Cleanup is under way across Tempe in the wake of a microburst storm Monday afternoon with 71 mph winds that dumped three-quarters of an inch of rain in 15 minutes, tore roofs off buildings, downed thousands of trees and power lines, seriously damaged businesses and homes, and displaced about 130 people, according to city officials.
Long-time Tempe residents called it the worst storm they’ve seen in at least three decades. There were no fatalities or serious injuries reported, according to Tempe Fire Medical Rescue.
