MESA, Ariz. — There are renewed concerns in a Mesa neighborhood after a police response involving an addiction recovery center just yards from an elementary school — reigniting a months-long controversy over whether the facility belongs in a residential area.
Residents in the Hermosa Vista neighborhood near Rose and Minton Street said they’ve been warning city leaders since spring that the Legacy Recovery Center’s location — directly across from Hermosa Vista Elementary School — could create safety and zoning issues.
