Arizona Landlord Tries To Charge Former Tenant Over $5,000 for ‘Repairs’: “Six Years Means This Is Just Normal Wear and Tear”

PHOENIX, ARIZONA — A former Arizona tenant says their landlord tried to drain their wallet after moving out, billing them more than $5,000 for supposed “repairs” — even though they had already lived in the property for six years.

The tenant, posting under the username u/acid_coven on Reddit’s r/Tenant forum, shared screenshots of an itemized list from their former landlord that included nearly every feature in the home — from paint and flooring to cleaning and replacements. After deducting the security deposit, the final amount due came to roughly $3,500.

According to the tenant, they didn’t deny that a few things needed fixing — like minor cat scratches, crayon marks, and some nail polish residue. However, they insisted that most of the charges were outrageous…
