Mesa Police Department’s agreement to collaborate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has become a standing bone of contention in the city.
Lately residents at council meetings have been speaking out – some in support but largely against police’s participating in ICE’s 287(g) program.
The department first inked the memorandum of agreement in November 2009 for the jail enforcement model, one of three in the program.
