Arizona nonprofit aims to create housing for domestic violence survivors

A chance encounter with a homeless woman after moving to Arizona led Shante Saulsberry to start a nonprofit organization to help victims of domestic violence build stability in their lives.

Now she is working to take it a step further, by creating housing.

Saulsberry, who grew up in foster care, founded Janice’s Women’s Center to provide resources to women who have fled violent situations to help rebuild their lives. She partners with shelter providers to help women and children get emergency housing, and she provides one-on-one support and services like credit repair, financial literacy, counseling, career support to help women get back on their feet after leaving abusive relationships…
