Gilbert residents say data shows hiked up water rates don’t add up

GILBERT (AZFamily) — Gilbert councilmembers took a stance Tuesday night in the ongoing battle over skyrocketing water bills. Three members called for a full review of the town’s water rates, while customers continued to question whether the rate increases added up on paper.

A water rate increase had been approved by the Town Council to help pay for a new water treatment facility — 50% last year, 25% this year and another 25% expected next year. But some residents compared the numbers on their water bills to that structure and found the 75% increase the town said they were paying didn’t check out…
