On November 10, 2025, Maricopa County, Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC), and the City of Phoenix held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Ascent on Broadway, a new affordable housing community in South Phoenix. The event marked the opening of a project aimed at increasing affordable housing options for local families.
Ascent on Broadway is located near the Central Avenue light rail. It offers 161 affordable rental apartments, including studios and one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. The apartments range from 450 to 1,048 square feet. They are intended for households earning at or below 40, 50, or 60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). The 4.2-acre site includes a clubhouse, playground, splash pad, outdoor fitness equipment, picnic areas, and central laundry facilities.
By late October 2025, 140 units were already occupied. This indicates strong demand for affordable housing in Phoenix.
