New details show how suspect who assaulted girl at Phoenix school got onto campus

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A principal revealed how a convicted sex offender who snuck into a Phoenix elementary school and sexually assaulted a young girl was linked to the school and how he got past security.

Orangewood Elementary School principal Emily Paterson said in an email to staff and parents that the suspect, 25-year-old Abel Kai Gblah, is a former student who attended the school from 2012 to 2015.

Paterson also said Gblah got on campus through an unlocked interior lobby door and walked in with a tardy student. Officials initially said he was behind a student who was buzzed in. A staff member has been placed on administrative leave…
