Alleged drunk driver ID’d in Gilbert crash that killed Lyft driver, passenger

GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — Gilbert police say a suspected drunk driver has been released from the hospital and booked into jail after a crash more than two months ago killed a Lyft driver, her passenger, and the rideshare driver’s dog.

Authorities said Thursday that Robb Hintzsche, 35, is facing two counts of second-degree murder, felony endangerment and animal cruelty for the deadly wreck that happened on Sept. 19 near Recker and Ray roads. Police said he drove drunk at more than three times the legal limit.

Police said on that day, Nicole Snell, 36, was working as a rideshare driver and had picked up Marisa Jorgenson, 33. Investigators believe Snell was headed northbound on a green light when she was hit by Hintzsche, who ran a red light driving westbound at speeds estimated between 89 mph and 96 mph.

Detectives said when Hintzsche’s vehicle struck Snell’s car, it caused Snell’s car to spin out of control and crash into a traffic pole on the northwest corner of the intersection…
