They wanted to bottle a taste of Arizona. And prove gin is inclusive

Suncliffe’s story began in 2020, while the world was locked down due to the pandemic. Ryan Lawrence’s parents were retiring in Sedona, so he and his partner, Thomas Giddings, went to help them move furniture. It was the couple’s first excursion beyond their immediate neighborhood in months.

When they arrived, they were inspired by the blue of the juniper trees on Suncliffe Drive, which popped against the backdrop of Sedona’s beautiful red rocks. They picked juniper berries to experiment with in their own kitchen. Back home, they macerated the berries along with other locally sourced ingredients to infuse a spirit. And a uniquely Arizona gin was born.

“It has a real sense of place, which I think is what’s missing from a lot of spirits these days,” Giddings said…
