A recent escalation of violence shook Phoenix over the weekend, with two separate incidents leaving the community in distress. In the first incident, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, a woman was caught in the crossfire and injured during a dispute between two other women on Dec. 4 near 4th Street and Southern Avenue. The argument, which took place at approximately 4 p.m., turned physical and ended with gunfire. “One of the subjects had removed a gun and fired a number of shots. One of the shots struck an adult woman who was not involved in the fight. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” Phoenix Police Department stated. The involved parties have been identified, yet their names remain undisclosed to the media.
The same day, tragedy ensued when police were summoned to a home on 40th Street and Baseline Road around 4:45 p.m. following a domestic violence incident. According to ABC15, George Chin Ku, 68, and Scarlett Shiu-Mei Ku, 64, were found deceased with gunshot wounds. Their son, Jeremy Jonathan Ku, 31, was transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. One other man, who was also shot, survived with injuries not considered life-threatening.
