A man from Sonora, Mexico, has been sentenced to prison in the United States for drug conspiracy. Daniel Roberto Auz-Vasquez, 28, received 78 months in prison and four years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced. The sentencing occurred on December 5, before Chief U.S. District Judge Jennifer G. Zipps. Auz-Vasquez was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment fee.
The charges stem from an incident on July 1, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona, when Auz-Vasquez and others were found with approximately 100 pounds of methamphetamine, which authorities say he intended to distribute that evening. His conviction is part of a broader crackdown by the Homeland Security Task Force, established under Executive Order 14159 to target criminal organizations.
