The best secondhand stores in Phoenix

Arizona has more than 3,000 used goods stores, according to IBISWorld.

The big picture: There are many niches in the resale space — luxury, collector items, furniture, kids stuff, etc. — and every thrifter seems to have a favorite spot.

Zoom in: Ana Piña opened The Posh Revival in Ahwatukee earlier this year, bringing designer resale to the suburban enclave. The shop was named Phoenix New Times’ best secondhand women’s clothing store this year.

  • Piña said she grew up thrifting with her mother and grandmother out of necessity and fell in love with the thrill of the hunt.
  • She added her closet has long been about 90% thrifted and she specializes in scoping out high-end pieces in a sea of thrifted goods.

What they’re saying: “My friends would say, ‘Where do you find these things? I never find anything [at the thrift store],'” she told Axios.

  • Her store caters to a population that wants the bargains of secondhand clothing but lacks the time or interest to search for them and is willing to pay a premium for a clean and carefully curated collection.
  • Her stock includes brands like Anthropologie, Burberry, Coach, J. Crew, Madewell and Kate Spade at a fraction of retail prices.
