Weather shift likely to bring rain to parts of Arizona on Christmas

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix has broken heat records for the last two days with temperatures in the 80s, and we have tied a record so far today.

The previous record for today’s date is 79 degrees, set back in 1950. The average temperature for this time of the year is 65 degrees. Temperatures will cool off slightly over the next few days, but should still stay above average.

Our unsettled weather pattern is all thanks to a trough out west that will first bring very heavy rain to California, before moisture shifts eastward, increasing rain chances in our state starting tonight. Round number one should bring scattered showers across southwestern Arizona this afternoon, then move into central and northern Arizona late tonight and into the overnight hours…
