Barricade ends with man turning gun on himself at Tempe area gas station

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A suspect is dead after a stolen vehicle investigation led to a barricade at an East Valley gas station on Wednesday morning.

Just before 9 a.m., two Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull over a driver at a Circle K near Priest and Baseline roads, by the border of Guadalupe and Tempe. According to William Jinks, spokesperson with MCSO, the vehicle was reported stolen out of Washington state.

Jinks says as deputies approached the driver, he “brandished a firearm” as he was still inside the vehicle. The two deputies took cover and called for assistance. Tempe police, the Department of Public Safety and SWAT teams arrived at the scene to assist…
