Red-light runner causes chain-reaction crash in Tempe; 3 hurt

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Three people are in the hospital after a red-light runner caused a multi-car crash in Tempe early Sunday morning.

The crash happened near Baseline Road and Priest Drive and involved two vehicles and two Waymos. According to Tempe police, a driver ran a red light and crashed into a second vehicle, causing the vehicles to hit two self-driving Waymo vehicles.

According to Waymo, one of its cars was empty, and the other had a passenger who was not hurt and continued their trip in another vehicle.

Three people who were involved in the initial crash were hospitalized and are in stable condition, according to Tempe Fire…
