North Phoenix Husband In Alleged Murder-Suicide Bid Critically Wounded

A quiet yesterday afternoon yesterday in north Phoenix turned chaotic when a woman told police her husband had opened fire on her, leaving him hospitalized in critical condition and triggering a major law-enforcement response near 19th Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

What Police Say Happened

Phoenix officers responded to an aggravated-assault call at about 2:45 p.m., where they found a woman who reported that her husband had shot at her, according to FOX 10 Phoenix. She was not hit.

After taking the initial report, officers began tracking the suspect’s vehicle. When they moved in to check it, they found the man with a life-threatening injury and took him to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

High-Tech Search Leads Officers To Suspect

Phoenix Police Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez said officers used “the Phoenix Air Unit, SAU, and drones” to locate the vehicle, according to FOX 10 Phoenix. Fernandez said the man shot himself as officers tried to check on the vehicle.

Investigators are treating the case as an attempted murder-suicide while they gather evidence, process the scene, and interview witnesses.
