109 accused of DUI during WM Phoenix Open weekend; 40 other arrests outside event

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — While fans roared inside TPC Scottsdale, authorities were busy outside as WM Phoenix Open weekend resulted in dozens of arrests and nearly 1,100 traffic stops, according to data released Monday.

According to the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, authorities conducted 1,091 traffic stops between Thursday and Saturday, with the help of 136 officers and deputies.

The data showed there were a total of 109 DUI arrests made, 23 of which were for “extreme DUI,” involving a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of .15 or above…
