Gilbert citizens already struggling to keep up with utility bills will get yet another blow to their pocketbooks April 1, after the Town Council last week voted narrowly in favor of a 25% increase in water rates.
The increase is the last part of a three-year phased cash and bond water rate hike initially approved in 2024. It raised rates by 48% in April 2024 and 25% last April.
