Phoenix Man Ambushes Officers After Luring Police With False Shooting Call, Five Officers Shot as Infant Rescued From Porch

PHOENIX, ARIZONA — A man who allegedly lured police to his home by falsely claiming his girlfriend had been shot ambushed responding officers, leaving five officers wounded before barricading himself inside and later being found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities say the violent encounter unfolded after officers responded to what they believed was a domestic shooting call. Instead, they were met with gunfire almost immediately upon arrival.

What Authorities Confirmed

According to police, the suspect intentionally drew officers to the residence under false pretenses. When the first responding officer approached, the suspect opened fire in what officials described as a deliberate ambush.
