Phoenix sets daily heat record for 2nd day in a row, trend could continue as March begins

PHOENIX — Phoenix set a daily heat record for the second day in row on Sunday.

The mercury at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the National Weather Service uses for its official readings, hit 90 degrees at 1:27 p.m. to surpass the previous March 1 record of 89 degrees in 2016. It later reached 93 degrees.

A record daily high temperature was also reached on Saturday when temperatures hit 92 degrees. This also tied the hottest temperature ever recorded in February, which was reached on Friday as well…
