Young East Valley drowning patient survives after being pronounced dead

PHOENIX – A child in a recent East Valley drowning incident survived after being pronounced dead by doctors, authorities said.

Firefighters and officers responded to a Gilbert home near Ocotillo and Higley roads around 5:35 p.m. on Feb. 8 after receiving reports that a child was pulled from a backyard pool, according to the Gilbert Police Department.

Emergency personnel performed lifesaving measures at the scene before taking the child to a hospital. At 6:20 p.m., the patient was pronounced dead by medical staff…
