Family members confirmed Tuesday that a Phoenix father died weeks after he was badly beaten near the stretch of 27th Avenue known as “The Blade.” Phoenix police said the death of Ismael Loya is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives say the beating happened around 8 p.m. on Feb. 11 and they still don’t have leads.
