Injured hiker rescued by fire crews near the summit of Piestewa Peak

PHOENIX — Phoenix fire crews responded to a mountain rescue at Piestewa Peak on Thursday morning after a hiker was injured near the summit of the mountain.

Technical rescue teams were dispatched to the area near 2700 E. Piestewa Peak Drive, close to 24th Street and Lincoln Drive, around 11 a.m. after reports of an injured hiker, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Fire officials said crews made contact with a woman near the top of the mountain. The hiker told rescuers she had slipped and hit her head, leaving her unable to continue hiking down safely…
