TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A driver is now in custody after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop in Mesa and leading authorities on a pursuit along East Valley freeways that ended in Tempe Thursday morning.
Mesa police said one of its officers was trying to pull over a car near Southern Avenue and Extension Road. While the driver complied at first, they took off from the scene.
Moments later, multiple agencies began chasing the driver, leading to a pursuit along the U.S. 60 and Loop 101 freeways. At one point, drivers called 911 to report that the driver was trying to ram other cars on the freeway, the Department of Public Safety said.
Police later said the driver struck several vehicles and “almost struck a motor officer” during the incident…
