Police Issue Message After Woman Collapses on Side of the Road

A police department in Arizona is urging people to stay hydrated amid dangerously hot conditions that caused a woman to collapse on the side of the road in Glendale on Thursday.

The message from the Glendale Police Department comes as Glendale and much of the rest of western Arizona face extremely hot temperatures, with afternoon highs surging as hot as 107 degrees Fahrenheit on Thursday. Long-lasting extreme heat warnings remain in place across the region, including southern Nevada and southern California, with people urged to stay indoors, drink water and electrolyte drinks, and avoid caffeine and alcohol.

The temperatures are “unprecedented,” AccuWeather senior meteorologist Tom Kines told Newsweek, and roughly 30 degrees above average for this time of year. Many daily temperature records have already been broken, with some areas, like Phoenix, seeing their earliest 100-degree day on record…
