Foil balloons knock out power to thousands in Chandler, Peoria

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Arizona Public Service (APS) is reminding everyone to keep their balloons tied down or weighted after Mylar balloons knocked out power to thousands of customers in the eastern and western parts of the Valley.

Officials said Mylar balloons, which are metallic-looking balloons made of polyester film, hit a power line and knocked out power to about 2,700 customers in Peoria Saturday afternoon.
