Two arrested after motorcycles hit 118, 122 mph on Phoenix-area freeway

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Two motorcyclists were arrested after allegedly driving more than 115 mph on a major Phoenix freeway last week, with one rider leading troopers on a short chase.

On March 29, an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper was on an overpass along Loop 202 near Sky Harbor Boulevard when they saw two sport-style motorcyclist speeding.

In a Facebook post, DPS said the motorcycles were recorded at 122 mph and 118 mph in a posted 65-mph zone.

A traffic stop was initiated on one rider near Rio Salado Parkway, while the second rider initially left the area before returning briefly to the stop…
