Phoenix Hotel Horror: Man Found Dead In Car Trunk, 26-Year-Old Suspect Arrested

A disturbing discovery at a Phoenix hotel has led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man after police say a 44-year-old victim was killed in a room and later found in the trunk of a car.

On Saturday, March 28, officers were alerted to a possible homicide at a hotel near 24th Street and Van Buren Street. Detectives later located a vehicle near 25th Street and Adams Street, where they found a body in the trunk. Officials identified the victim as Derek Standridge and said the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is still in its early stages.

According to Arizona’s Family, Phoenix police identified the suspect as Charlie Carldwell. He was arrested on multiple charges, including murder, on Wednesday, April 1, following an interview with detectives. Authorities did not immediately release a booking photo or provide any information about a possible motive.
