New Pentagon memo allows off-duty troops to carry personal guns on base

PHOENIX — Military members across the country will now be able to bring their own guns onto base, something they weren’t allowed to do for decades.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth recently signed a memo allowing off-duty military members to bring their personal firearms onto military bases and installations, something he said was virtually impossible before.

“Our bases across the country were gun-free zones… Well, that’s no longer,” Hegseth said in a video posted on social media…
