Grand Theft Auto VI branding is headed for the sand in Miami Beach — on the rental chairs and umbrellas, not the lifeguard stands.
Commissioners voted 4–3 on Sept. 10 to move ahead with the GTA 6 marketing deal, which would pay the city about $3 million, PC Gamer reported. Getting there took an hour of argument about whether a city that spent years trying to shake a party-town reputation should rent space to a game about carjacking.
“We’re not going to be doing live action GTA in the city,” Commissioner Monica Matteo-Salinas said. “We’re not giving away pistols and cocaine to people.”
