Florida Warehouse Owner Files for Bankruptcy with Over $5M in Debt

Aphex Holdings, a company based in Hollywood, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing $5.36 million in secured debt. The bankruptcy petition was submitted on September 18 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Fort Lauderdale. The company’s sole owner, Bryan Hacht, signed the petition, which marks a significant financial challenge for the warehouse owner.

The Details Behind the Filing

According to the case summary, Aphex Holdings acknowledged falling behind on several mortgages. The company’s West Palm Beach-based attorney, Dana L. Kaplan, who represents the debtor, couldn’t be reached for further comment.

Aphex Holdings’ Assets

The company owns two primary properties:

  1. Hollywood Warehouses: These warehouses cover 21,927 square feet on a 1.67-acre site at 3580 and 3590 S.W. 30th Ave. in Hollywood. Aphex Holdings acquired them for $5.35 million in 2021, just a year after they were built. The bankruptcy petition values this property at around $3 million.
  2. Dania Beach Industrial Condos: The company also owns industrial condo Units 107 and 108, totaling 3,080 square feet at 2960 S.W. 23rd Terrace in Dania Beach. These were purchased brand new in 2014 for $780,000and are now valued at approximately $850,000 according to the bankruptcy filing.
