In 1925, the Miami Studios Company, co-founded by Glenn Curtiss, established the Cinema Park development on a triangular plot of land in Country Club Estates (Miami Springs). The development was bordered by the Miami canal on the north, the Esplanade canal on the east, and Albatross Street on the west. The streets included Lark, Swan, Falcon, Plover, Wren, Oriole, Swallow, Cardinal, and Albatross. All of these birds could be seen in Glenn Curtiss’s home state of New York or its waters. As the town of Miami Springs expanded to the northwest, city officials continued naming new east-west streets after bird species, although not necessarily birds seen in New York. The photo is of a 1925 newspaper clipping map of Cinema Park.
