Miami, FL – A Miami woman is in custody after allegedly breaking into her former partner’s apartment with a teenage accomplice, believed to be her child, to steal cash and other valuables.
According to the Miami Police Department, the suspect, 39, was arrested and charged with burglary, grand theft, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after the November 13th, 2024, incident near the 1000 block of Northwest Second Street in Little Havana.
The victim, who had been in an on-and-off relationship with the woman for a decade, told authorities that he kept a jar containing $1,300 in cash in plain view at his apartment, where the two had met previously for sexual encounters.
On the day of the burglary, the apartment’s front door was forced open, and the jar of cash, along with a $200 carton of cigarettes, was reported missing.
Surveillance footage played a critical role in the investigation, police said.
A Ring camera outside the apartment captured a masked woman, later identified as the suspect, and a younger accomplice, estimated to be between 13 and 15 years old, approaching the door and covering the camera.
