I totally agree with Jane Torres’ letter in the April 10 edition of the Islander News that “We must resist the order to train our Key Biscayne police officers to function as ICE agents…”
According to the latest statistics for Key Biscayne almost 60 percent of Key Biscayne residents are foreign born, placing those who are not US citizens in the crosshairs of Trump and DeSantis and their ICE agents.
Even those who are citizens of the United States may well be targeted in the future, since Trump is already talking about shipping undesirable immigrant citizens to foreign prisons as well. The time to show courage and step up to join South Miami in challenging these unconstitutional actions is now…
