Firefighters rescue seniors trapped in ‘heavy smoke’ in Little Havana apartment fire

MIAMI – Miami Fire Rescue crews rescued two seniors trapped in a smoke-filled apartment in the city’s Little Havana neighborhood Friday evening.

The fire broke out just before 6:15 p.m. at 1219 NW Second St., about two blocks away from loanDepot Park.

Lt. Pete Sanchez, an MFR spokesperson, said crews arrived, located the fire in a unit and got the seniors out of a neighboring apartment, which was filled with “heavy smoke.”…
