A meal at Shorty’s Bar-B-Q is certainly tradition and almost religion for many Miamians. If you grew up here, it is likely that at least three generations of your family have enjoyed their food. Next year, Shorty’s will celebrate their 75th year at their iconic Dadeland location (9200 S. Dixie Highway).
Recently, the rumor mill may have had you doubting if Shorty’s would be able to have their Diamond Anniversary there. While it is true that the land under Shorty’s was sold to a developer in 2022 for $14.5 million, management assures me they will operate through 2026.
Marketing Director Bayley Ramos explains, “Development can take years and we don’t expect any new news in the next year or so. Further, we promise we’ll let everyone know when (and if) we know anything.”…
