MIAMI — A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office sergeant has been cleared nearly a year after he shot and killed a suspect following a pursuit that ended in the county’s unincorporated West Little River area.
MDSO Sgt. Kelvin Cox shot and killed Kristofer Laboy, 24, outside of a building within the Sunset Palm Villas Association complex, located just outside the Miami city limits at Northwest 85th Street Road and Fourth Court, on June 17, 2025.
