Four-star linebacker Jalaythan Mayfield is down to Georgia, Indiana and Miami and will announce his college decision on Friday, June 19. The move keeps the Hurricanes alive for one of the top linebackers in North Carolina after Mayfield previously had a larger group that included Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Miami and Oregon.
Mayfield is a 2027 linebacker from Lincolnton High School in Lincolnton, North Carolina. He is ranked as the No. 228 overall prospect, No. 20 linebacker and No. 9 player in North Carolina in the Rivals Industry Ranking. Rivals’ own rankings place him No. 124 nationally, No. 12 at linebacker and No. 6 in the state. The 247Sports Composite ranks him No. 217 nationally, No. 16 at linebacker and No. 8 in North Carolina.
