Miami lost several long-running restaurants and bars this summer. These included a 38-year-old South Beach institution, a Bayside landmark, and the original location of one of the city’s best-known Southern restaurants. Other closings involved newer arrivals, hotel venues, and businesses already looking for their next address.
Some restaurants gave customers advance notice, while others closed without a public farewell or reason why. Below are 14 Miami-area restaurants and bars that closed, announced their departure, or paused operations during summer 2026.
Permanently Closed
Casa Zeru: The Basque Mediterranean restaurant Casa Zeru at 1395 Brickell Ave. has closed. It arrived in Brickell in March 2023, bringing to Miami a restaurant brand popular in Mexico City since 2009. The menu focused on cooking from Spain’s Basque region alongside broader Mediterranean dishes. Its owners have not publicly announced a closing or reason.
Hard Rock Cafe Miami: Nearly 33 years after opening at Bayside Marketplace, Hard Rock Cafe Miami served its final customers on August 19.
