The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what caused a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) special agent to shoot and kill a man on Thursday morning after a brief fight in traffic near Jorge Mas Canosa Middle School.
The shooting appeared to happen close to the first bell just after 9 a.m. Thursday in the school’s drop-off line near the intersection of Southwest 157th Avenue and 140th Street, only a few hundred feet away from where the middle schoolers would have been walking to class. The school, south of Miami Executive Airport in southwest Miami, went on lockdown after the shooting, but the only other reported injury was to the FDLE agent, a department spokesperson told New Times in a statement…
