Miami-Dade Moves to Replace County Parking Lot in Cutler Bay with 724 Affordable Housing Units

A county-owned parking lot behind the South Dade Government Center in Cutler Bay is on track to become something very different: 724 income-restricted apartments spread across four eight-story buildings.

Miami-Dade County planning staff recommended approval of the zoning requests in a staff report dated September 24, clearing the way for applicant TAF SDGC, LLC to redevelop roughly 12 acres at 10700–10820 SW 211 Street — land the county’s own planners called “underutilized” that currently functions as employee parking and a vehicle maintenance yard. The agenda item was before the Board of County Commissioners as application PH: Z26-090.

The source of the housing commitment predates the zoning action: the Board previously approved a Lease and Development Agreement, under Resolution No. R-841-24, authorizing the development of affordable housing on this county-owned site.
