Heartbreak as boy, 13, found lifeless on Miami playground as screw causes freak death

A Miami mother is grieving the loss of her 13-year-old son after what she described as a freak accident on a playground slide at Shenandoah Park.

Estefanía Valladares told Local 10 News her son, Olvin Cabrera Valladares, died after he was suffocated by his T-shirt when part of it got stuck on a nail as he went down the slide at the park on the morning of Sept. 25.

“He was my baby, my youngest, just 13 years old. He had his whole life ahead of him,” Valladares said. “He just wanted to play, and sadly, it was playing that took his life.” She says her son loved soccer and attended Citrus Grove K-8 Center…
