Large Manufacturing Company Is Permanently Closing A Florida Facility And Laying Off Dozens

According to a Reuters article in December of 2023, the manufacturing sector in the United States was “subdued” in late 2023 as layoffs increased and hiring slowed.

It seems that Florida may not be completely immune to this trend – as one manufacturing company has announced that it will permanently close a Florida office and lay off dozens of employees.

About Fathom Digital Manufacturing: According to the company’s LinkedIn page, it is one of the largest on-demand digital manufacturing platforms in the nation.

It offers clients 450,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity across 12 facilities. It can perform services such as machining, injection molding and tooling, and sheet metal fabrication in-house. Its clients include companies in the defense, aerospace, medical, and automotive sectors.

Indeed users give Fathom Digital Manufacturing 3 out of 5 stars as an employer. While employees noted that the company offers the latest technology, some noted a lack of training and organization.

The Closure And Layoffs: According to a WARN notice dated January 23, 2024, company Chief Human Resources Officer Caprice Perez noted that the company’s facility in Miami Lakes is permanently closing. Therefore, 52 employees will be terminated as a result of the closure beginning on March 24, 2024.
