Another Broward County Student Arrested for Possession of Loaded Gun on Campus

In a concerning development within a week, a student from Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale was taken into custody for possessing a loaded gun on school premises. This incident follows a similar case at Henry D. Perry Education Center in Miramar.

The Stranahan High School, located at 1800 SW Fifth Place, was put on lockdown just before 2 p.m. following a report to the school security staff about a male student carrying a gun. According to Fort Lauderdale city police spokesperson Casey Liening, the police found the student with a loaded gun. The student is now in custody, and charges are pending. The lockdown was lifted around 2:30 p.m., with the school resuming its normal dismissal schedule.

This incident comes just days after Kyzaiah Connor, an 18-year-old student at Henry D. Perry Education Center in Miramar, was arrested under similar circumstances. Connor was found with a loaded handgun in his waistband in a classroom following an anonymous tip to a school resource officer. He is facing a charge of possession of a firearm on school property and has been released from jail on bail.
