Unfortunately, in the last few months, I’ve written about long-term Florida restaurants that have closed due to financial issues. Examples are Tampa’s Chubby’s, Winter Garden’s Maryland Fried Chicken, and Seineyard Seafood Restaurant.
Now we can add another restaurant to this list – one that has been called a “landmark,” and was in business for 43 years.
About Wagon’s West: This staple was a classic “greasy spoon” diner that saw many generations of Florida families through special dinners and comfort food meals.
One patron told the Miami Herald that it was a community “landmark.” It served breakfast all day and had rotating comfort food specials like spaghetti and meatballs, ribs, and meatloaf.
Pinecrest patrons gave it 4.3 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. A reviewer named Bradley wrote:
“Everything one would expect in an old-style diner atmosphere with a welcome feeling. (The) food was delicious but definitely calorie-heavy. Service was quick and friendly. If you’re up for an old-style, truly American breakfast, this is the place.”
