Businessman Leo Kryss has filed a lawsuit against real estate firm Douglas Elliman, alleging the company misled him about the true buyer of his $79 million Florida mansion. The lawsuit, filed in Miami-Dade County’s circuit court in July, claims Kryss was misinformed about whether Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was behind the purchase of his luxury property.
Kryss, co-founder of Brazilian company Tectoy, sold his seven-bedroom, 11.5-bathroom estate located in the exclusive Indian Creek Village in Miami, a neighborhood known for its ultra-wealthy residents. According to the lawsuit, Kryss asked Douglas Elliman CEO Jay Parker if Bezos was the buyer, but Parker allegedly assured him that Bezos was not involved in the transaction.
The lawsuit also claims that Parker convinced Kryss to lower the asking price from $85 million to $79 million, asserting that the buyer would not pay more. Relying on these assurances, Kryss agreed to the $6 million discount.
Kryss now contends that had he known Bezos was indeed the purchaser, he would not have reduced the price. The lawsuit argues that the property held additional value to Bezos, who had previously acquired the adjacent estate at 12 Indian Creek Island Road. Kryss speculated that Bezos intended to combine the properties, making his mansion more valuable to the billionaire than to other buyers.
