Search suspended for woman who fell overboard Royal Caribbean cruise ship

MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) — The search for the 66-year-old woman who fell from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship has been called off.

On Thursday morning, the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast announced that the Royal Bahamas Defence Force was suspending the search efforts, “pending further developments,” and no longer required assistance from the Coast Guard.

The victim fell from the Allure of the Seas around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday. The Coast Guard said the ship was roughly 17 miles north of Nassau, Bahamas.

According to the Coast Guard, an HC-144 airplane crew and an MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter crew were dispatched to assist in the search.

The cruise departed from Miami on Oct. 21 to Nassau, Bahamas followed by CocoCay, and is set to return to Miami on Oct. 25.

Marvelous Mouse Travels hosted a private event onboard for Taylor Swift fans, as part of a fan-led cruise group, “In My Cruise Era,” the group’s website said.
