Miami’s most expensive gas station sold Friday’s only lottery jackpot hit in Florida

Nobody else in Miami sells gas for more than the place that sold the only lottery jackpot winner among Florida’s big money draw games Friday.

Nobody won Jackpot Triple Play, Cash4Life or Fantasy 5 midday jackpots and a California player took the Mega Millions $1.22 billion prize. The Fantasy 5 evening draw — 4, 7, 11, 31, 35 — was matched by a Quick Pick ticket bought at the Chevron station at 2545 NW LeJeune Rd., a $139,514 stroke of luck.

While other gas stations around the city of Miami and Miami International Airport range from $2.95 to $3.19 for a gallon of regular, as a short drive or Gasbuddy check shows , the Chevron on LeJeune and Shell next door, 2501 NW LeJeune Rd., priced regular at $4.99 per gallon as of Saturday morning.

And, they’ve been significantly more expensive for almost 20 years. Why? Location, location, location — the Chevron and the Shell are the two closest gas stations to MIA’s rental car facility. That means they’re the two closest options for car renters who need to refill the gas tank before returning the car, perfectly placed for car rental customers with neither knowledge of lower prices nearby nor the time to search for anything cheaper.
