MIAMI, Florida — A Miami man has been sentenced to 240 months in prison for firearm-related offenses, including attempting to shoot a victim and confronting a tow truck driver with a weapon. U.S. District Court Judge David S. Leibowitz handed down the sentence to 28-year-old Olivier Ricardy Alexandre, who had previously pled guilty to charges of possession of ammunition and a firearm by a convicted felon.
On February 15, 2023, Alexandre, a former track and field athlete, was sentenced to probation in Warren County, Kentucky, on felony charges related to marijuana trafficking. Less than a month later, on March 13, 2023, Alexandre fired at least 18 rounds at a victim in Miami-Dade County, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department. The department’s Forensic Services Division linked the shell casings to three prior shootings, including an incident on October 9, 2022, involving the same victim.
On March 21, 2023, officers from the Plantation Police Department observed Alexandre retrieving a handgun with an extended drum magazine to confront a tow truck driver, leading to his arrest. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Miami-Dade Police Department, with assistance from the Plantation Police Department and Broward Sheriff’s Office.
